Vibhuti is a medium through which Swamiji often dispensed His blessings. It is imbued with the power he acquired through tapas, Tapas Shakti. 

Initiates into dhyana meditation are given a piece of vibhuti with instructions for its use during meditation. The vibhuti enhances one’s ability to meditate, explained Swamiji. Swamiji Insisted that the vibhuti would work if used as directed. Faith, he said, has nothing to do with it. 

The vibhuti blessed by Swamiji must be handled specially. All blessed vibhuti must be kept off the ground or its energy gets discharged.
